A New Chapter: Why I'm Now The Holistic Hairstylist
If you've been following my journey, you might have noticed some changes happening around here. New name, new website, fresh energy—and I wanted to take a moment to share with you why this rebrand feels so right, and what it means for the work we're doing together.
The Evolution
For years, I've been passionate about teaching clean color techniques, ammonia-free formulations, and the art of razor cutting. I've loved sharing these skills with other stylists who want to create beautiful hair while honoring the health of their clients and themselves.
But somewhere along the way, as I've been creating content, teaching, and connecting with stylists in this community, I realized something important: the techniques are only part of the story.
It's Bigger Than Products
Don't get me wrong—I'm still deeply committed to holistic hair practices. I believe in clean products, gentle techniques, and treating hair and scalp with the respect they deserve. That foundation isn't going anywhere.
But what I've come to understand is that being truly holistic means looking at the whole picture of what it means to be a hairstylist.
It means asking: How do we build careers that don't destroy our bodies? How do we make the money we deserve without burning out? How do we create boundaries that protect our peace while still serving our clients beautifully? How do we show up as our best selves—not just behind the chair, but in our lives?
The Hard-Earned Lessons
I've been a hairstylist for over 12 years, and I've learned some of these lessons the hard way. I've experienced burnout. I've pushed through exhaustion. I've said yes when I should have said no. I've sacrificed lunch breaks, double-booked myself into oblivion, and wondered why I felt so depleted doing work I genuinely love.
And through all of that, I've discovered that technical skill alone isn't enough. You can be the most talented colorist or the most precise cutter in your city, but if you're running yourself into the ground, something's broken.
What Holistic Really Means
So when I say I'm The Holistic Hairstylist, here's what I mean:
Holistic techniques — Yes, I'm teaching you clean color formulations, ammonia-free options, and razor cutting methods that create beautiful, healthy hair.
Holistic business — I'm also teaching you how to price your services confidently, set boundaries that protect your time and energy, and build a schedule that actually serves you.
Holistic self-care — We're talking about the daily practices, the small strategies, and the mindset shifts that help you stay healthy, grounded, and present in your work and your life.
Holistic career — This is about the long game. Building something sustainable. Creating success that doesn't cost you your health, your relationships, or your joy.
What This Means for You
If you're here, you're probably a stylist who wants more than just technical tips (though we'll definitely keep diving deep into those). You're someone who's ready to build a career that feels as good as it looks from the outside.
You want to make great money and have energy left for your life. You want to master your craft and protect your body. You want to serve your clients beautifully and maintain boundaries that keep you sane.
That's exactly what we're building together here at The Holistic Hairstylist.
Moving Forward
This rebrand isn't just a new name—it's a clearer vision of what I'm here to do. It's a commitment to showing up for you in a bigger way, teaching not just the how of great hair, but the how of a great career.
I'm so grateful you're here. Whether you've been following along for years or you just found me yesterday, thank you for being part of this community. I can't wait to keep learning, growing, and creating together.
Here's to building careers that truly sustain us—in every sense of the word.
With gratitude,
Jen
